Iwo Jima and Okinawa
The United States Army and Air force used Iwo Jima and Okinawa as planned bases so they would be able to fly back and forth from tokyo easily.
- The Japanese fought to the death and we're very vicious with the attacks.
- Very few prisoners were taken
- Kamikaze's were active throughout the battle.
- After the Islands were taken, there was a brutal fire bombing of Tokyo
- The casualty rate was high from American soldiers (an estimated one million lost their lives)
